Sometime in few weeks when the ice is out I will be taking my first trip to Struble. I currently have no boat but that will be changing this summers. But I'm wondering what's the best way to hit this lake from shore? I'm not really looking to target any fish specifically but i have enough lures and plastics to go after anything in PA. Has anyone found live bait to better than lures or vise verse? Any tips would be great. Thanks, Kenny

I have only fished that lake from a boat; but in the Spring off to the left side of the ramp is packed with Crappie Fisherman; so I am assuming it is quite a hot spot. It also seems that every year someone latches on to a huge bass in those shallows as well. I'm not sure what all the Crappie Fisherman are using for bait (probably minnows) but in the boat small twister tails trolled seem to work very well. Once you get yourself a boat that lake is a different story. There are HUGE Bass in there; I always catch them near the tunnel but it seems a lot of folks catch them between the boat ramp and the dam (on the left side). I prefer crankbaits in there but it seems like decent Bass always are caught with a Senko style soft stickbait.

How deep do you run your crank baits? Have you had any luck on top water or any spinners? Just trying to get as much info as possible before i hit the lake?

Super Shallow; 1' to 2' deep....... A Mann's Baby 1 minus is perfect. As far as topwater; I have NEVER caught a single Bass on topwater at Struble. I have thrown a buzzbait many times early in the AM.....but NADA!(no luck with a Rebel Pop-R either)
