What's the effect of snow on top of the ice? Seems to me it may insulate the cold temps from thickening the ice. Was there sufficient ice before the snow? Be safe everyone!

Snow does insulate ice from forming but a lot of snow was blown of due to yesterday's wind.

Had a decent day Saturday on Struble. Good weather, good ice, and got to meet a new ice fishing friend, Chip. Caught a dozen fish mixed between bluegills and crappies. Threw in a few small perch as well.

Towards the dam is probably the deepest. I've had some luck to the left of the boat ramp about 100 yards from the shore. In reality, anywhere you get about 8-9 feet of water usually produces. The fish there seem to be finicky at times, especially after about 10am. Not one area there seems to be good 100% of the time though, at least for me. You may have to dig a few holes. Hope this helps.

Odd day at Struble today in the late morning. No crappies at all but some nice bluegills and a few very nice perch. All perch I've been catching there up until today have been very small. Crappies have also been abundant but none today. Talked to a couple of guys who picked up a few crappies but they were there early morning. Needless to say, lots of fun today!
