I have heard rumors from people that there are certain sections of the brandywine where the Samllies are located. Does anyone know if this is true and if so where I should try? Thanks

Ryan, both the east branch and west branch have plenty of good smallie fishing. Although there are smallies in the upper reaches of both branch's where they are stocked with trout all the way down stream where both Branch's come together and on down into Delaware. On the east branch I would focus on the section below Downingtown to Lenape and on the west branch I would focus on the section from Mortonville to Lenape. That's a lot of water to cover and there isn't much public access so I would suggest a canoe or kayak trip down either branch and you might want to break them into smaller sections so that you can effectively fish them. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I am going to give that a try. i live off of shady side road and by the covered bridge it seems really shallow. Where would be a good place to launch my canoe where i may be able to use my trolling motor? Thanks again

Ryan I'm not sure what your intentions are, if you are looking for a long pool to stay in I think that would be a mistake, what you want to do if you can is to make a float trip. I don't know where you would be allowed to park to put in and take out. Sorry I can't give you anymore help then that. If you have anymore ? feel free to ask, I'll answer what I can and maybe somebody else will chime in to help you out.

Ryan, I fish the brandywine often and it does have a great smallmouth population. However, I do not fish as far north as your talking about. I fish it from rt 1 south. With the low levels of water this year, I highly doubt that a trolling motor would work. You would bottom out to often and probably be a pain in the butt. I fish out of a kayak and hit the brandywine/ delaware river very often, Let me know if you ever want to hook up on a float.
