Hopewell is pretty much a sandy bowl. There are weeds/grass on the ramp end of the lake that can produce. There is a nice dropoff along the mouth of the last cove on the left near the dam. I haven't been there in a few years but there used to be a beaver hut on the left down by the dam. Good luck.

You just have to put a lot of time into the lake. I have spent MANY, MANY hours down there fishing and honestly; not ready to reveal its secrets. What you need is a cheap depth finder and some polorized glasses and some search baits; plus time on the water and you can find this lakes secrets. I have fished this lake very hard for several years now; I got a little bit of help but I figured out most of it on my own. This lake does hold a nice population of small bass; but theres some real nice ones in there as well. Please dont be offended by my post; it took me over 100 trips down there to really know the lake the way I do and I would hate to reveal all when I put in the time to learn it for myself.

So frogman, you got help to learn the lake, took the time to type all that up and offered nothing. Nice!

Guest421 No offense but doesn't mean much coming from someone who wouldn't even take the time to register and be a part of the community. Just a thought.

I think Frogman has given plenty. As my great grand dad used to say (meaning, I just made this up on the spot), "Show a man a fishing spot and he'll fish in one spot. Teach a man how to find a fishing spot and he will fish in a lake."

Teach a man how to find a fishing spot and he will fish in a lake." I beg to differ. He said get a depth finder and polarized sun glasses.... Not help at all if you ask me. Another reply told of a dropoff and beaver dam. That's help IMHO.

WOW; looks like I got alot of mixed reactions over my post. Again; not trying to offend anyone; I just thought it appropriate to say that you just need to go down there and figure the lake out yourself. I mentioned I had a little help; what I meant was......use this forum! It dates back several years.....research it. I have ready every single post and comment on Struble Lake; Marsh Creek and Hopewell Lake. There's alot of wisdom in the years past. When I start out on a new lake the name of the game is research. I was at Hopwell this weekend; caught 15 Bass. The action was a little slow and the usual spots werent producing; but from all of my research I still found them. All I will say is that they were all caught in deep water by Hopewell standards. So; if you want info on the lake use the gift of this forum to its fullest. I did my research and it pays off just about every time. See the pic up top on the right; that's mine. Was it luck I caught this fish; maybe so because it was so big; but when I saw her I knew what to do. And I have Gordon's and this page to thank. I caught her in a pond; but that doesn't mean I didn't learn how in the body of this Forum. There are many wise fisherman on this forum who post alot of information. So again; use the knowledge of the past. I tend to not reveal too much info on here because I have worked hard for what I know; but in my opinion some people post a little too much info. But in the end I am greatful that they did!

Frogman, that is one reason I almost wish some of these forums were members only. I personally never want to share a whole lot because at any given time 20 guests will be lurking. If someone won't be a part of the community why should I show my hand?

backpain; I agree 100%........ I wish there were a way for this forum to be Members Only. Yeah; I dont reveal a whole lot of info on here; but if I run into someone down at the lakes I am more than willing to take the time to chat. I have run into several people from this forum down at some of the lakes and had some great conversations. In that situation I will ask advice but I also offer it in return. You folks know who you are and I appreciate the multiple conversations we have had.

I have had several members help me out a ton in PM about different places. I am taking a few teens out camping at French Creek. If you see my old fisher out there with a 79' Chrysler on the back trying to figure out Hopewell give me a holler!
