Is anyone still expecting a freeze up at this point? Extended forecasts keeps on showing mild temperatures. Even lakes in the north are having this problem, lakes in Minnesota that usually have around 2-3 feet of ice this time of year have less than 10 inches right now. They even had temperatures in the 60's at the beginning of last week.
I was reading an article that said the Arctic air mass that is responsible for cold weather hasn't been pushed down, some other air current is keeping it up there.
Honestly I've given up hope, maybe February will be different.

All is not lost. I know a weather guru that expects late January and Febuary to be very cold and otherwise nasty. I stopped at struble today to find the lake completly froze over except for a very few small spots. We might be a litle spoiled from the last few winters. Keep the faith.

Wish I thought earlier in the fall of stocking my pool. It's been iced up for a couple of weeks now. I've also been around Struble a couple of times. Just enough of spotty ice to make you lick your chops. It's coming so get ready!

Starting friday the forecast looks like ice making weather. Ice forms every night so the water temps are right there, just need a couple of days to lock things up and get this show on the road....freakin killing me. Got some new toys and equipment to try out and am getting anxious.

10 day forecast shows a couple of days in the high 40's with showers next week. Reminds me of a few years back getting only three days on the ice. Stinks but we still have Februauy coming up!

I do know a guy who went out over the weekend on 2.5 inches of ice, not safe at all but he made it. No ice is gonna be left after the rain. I'm not expecting a freeze-over at all, start prepping your boats, we're in for an early spring .

Prep your boat? Never put mine away. Caught over 100 yellow perch on the Susky in MD today. Unfortunately they were all small, but how can you beat a day on soft water in January?
