I went to Hopewell about a week ago and what a lousy trip. I was out for about 4 hours and not a bite. The worst part was trying to get my boat out on the "main lake". The weeds were terrible this year.......the last time down there I had to pull the motor (with a weedless prop) numerous times to clear it out. It was real rough getting the boat from the ramp out past the fishing pier. Last year at this time I was tearing up on the bass.....and not a soul in site.....this year; AWEFULL! I thought for sure last weekend would be a great shallow crankbait bite....but nothing. I was the 2nd boat out that Saturday and within an hour there were 4 or 5 other boats out. An hour after that I had the lake to myself; everyone had left.......so is anyone still fishing Hopewell for the season and if so......are you catching anything! I would imagine its just about suspending rogue season......but not sure if I will fight the weeds and give it a try or not.

Hey Frogman,
I took several days vacation last week just to fish Hopewell. It was really poor and the weeds were so thick I bought a 2nd battery just to get around. I eventually gave up and fished Scott's Run ~ and caught a few. It was nice to just get out of the weeds.
That same week last year the fishing on Hopewell was A-W-E-S-O-M-E. I guess that's fishing for you!

Hey aaron; great to hear from you : ) Bummer about your fishing trip to Hopewell. I agree; last year was phenomenal around this time of the year. Tube baits were the hot ticket.....this year you cant even get out on the lake (past the weeds). I ended up packing up my boat for the winter after my last trip down there.......kind of depressing. Did you catch bass at Scott's Run or were the pickeral htting as well? Typically I avoid Scott's Run becasue of all the weeds; and now you went there to get away from them. I have been doing a little pond fishing recently......two weeks ago I had a GREAT trip as they were hitting shallow crankbaits; last weekend though.....I had one hit on a jig-n-pig and thats it (and I missed it). I may get out tomorrow for a little in the snow; not sure yet.....but it looks like Hopewell is done until next March or April....... : (
