Hey everybody! I can't say the action was good at Hopewell today but I had fun! Got there about 7am and powerfished the shoreline and islands. I picked up two - 14" bass in about and hour. Then the action slowed way down! The fish were not in shallow at all. I consider myself lucky I caught two. After about two more hours I headed to the shallow cove to the left of the islands. I slowed way down with my fishing and after about 10 minutes with a Texas rigged tube bait I thought I got stuck. The boat was moving so I figured the line coming off the reel was because the boat didn't come to a complete stop yet. All the sudden my line started moving and after about 5 minutes of fighting I landed a 6 lb 4 oz bass! I think I let out a yell that the whole lake heard. After that I caught two more around 12". I finally left the lake around 1130 only to find out I left my lights on and the car battery was dead. Thanks to the friendly passerby for giving me a jump! Hey Aaron, was that you that left the boat ramp without your fishing rods in the boat? I was wearing the red Yum sweatshirt. So overall, I have had days where I have caught more bass at Hopwell, but that's by far the biggest bass I have ever caught there. After a very brief photoshoot she was quickly returned to the water.

Awesome! That's a great size bass for Hopewell. Yeah...that was me running back to my car to get my rods. They are usually on my boat but I thought it might rain that night so I kept them in the car. I tried to find you on the lake to warn you about your lights...but it sounds like it worked out ok. I'd take a dead battery and monster bass any day!

frogman...the easiest way to post a pic is to go to a hosting site like tinypic or photobucket and upload your pic and then copy the URL for mrssage boards and then paste it in the body of your text.

About the only time I go to Scotts Run is if I want a change of pace. Scotts run is always good for some pickeral fishing. I have had some very good success there last year. I would always head to the the shallow end and look for weed patches; once I spotted those with the poloroids then all I would do is cast out a white buzzbait. I only ever caught one Largemouth Bass at Scotts run and it was a dink. They say the State Record Smallmouth came out of there but I have never heard of anyone else catching a smallmouth in that place. I have targeted bass in there a time or two but always ended up cathching pickeral.
