My son and I got a late start on Monday at Hopewell but got the boat in the water around 6:00 PM. We fished until around 8:30 PM. We had a great day catching big bluegills along the west side of the Lake. We were catching them with almost every cast. We also caught a couple of bass around 14 inches. Everything was released safely, including my thumb when one of bass returned my hook to me when I was releasing him. The biggest hitch was our fishing tackle. I had two UL spinning rigs and was having nothing but headaches. My son wasn't having any problems with his spincast rig. Only a couple of boats on the water and a few kayaks. As we were launching another boat was coming out with a big stringer of nice size crappie. They said they were catching them with minnows down near the dam. It sounds like a plan for later in the week.
