Fished this Saturday and caught 11 bass in about an hour. The bite was early and the bass seem to be more active. I was anchored up about 30 feet off the bank fishing a ledge with some jigs.
I think I would have caught more but someone drove their boat right between me and the bank ~ spooking the fishing. Just a friendly reminder that if someone else is fishing a spot, please give him some space and wait your turn. We'll be more than happy to extend the same courtesy to you.

Congrats on the catches Aaron! Courtesy is just becoming a thing of the past. I love when I'm the first boat on the lake and I've slow drifted the place for 2 hours down one side and just when I'm about 50 feet from one of my favorite spots on the lake someone who's been there for about 10 minutes has to race around me to hog it up. Any size to those bass or just youngins?

Sorry to hear about someone's bad manners. I too have had this happen several times. I am not always the first boat out; but certainly the 2nd on MANY occasions.....but I know exactly what you mean. Anyway; I was fishing Hopewell on Sunday and had a decent day myself; caught 10. All bass were between 12-15"; nothing huge but a successful day none-the-less. Most people I passed were getting discouraged because they weren't catching a darn thing. I guess my time on the water and my winter reading are paying off. Were you fishing the ledges out from the beaver debris?

Yes ~ I was fishing the ledge by the beaver debris. That was the spot where my fishing excursion was cut a little short. I know it's a popular spot.
Sizes were around 10-15". No monsters but nice fish.

Hey TommyP, I saw your report on Struble.....glad to hear you caught a few. Yes; there were ALOT of boats on Hopewell on Sunday. I think when I got there; there were about 4 other boats out already. By the time I left there were about 12. I power fished both sides of the lake and caught nothing; then I slowed WAY DOWN and fished very specific spots (actually not the normal laydowns etc.) and it paid off. Many times I hit spots AFTER other people just got done fishing them and I was able to pick up the bass that they couldnt catch; it was awesome actually...........Aaron; I heard about the ledge; I have actually never seen it on my electronics but its on my list to find. Glad to hear its a good area for you...........everyone see the pic on the top of the page; the one on the right is definitely from Hopewell as I can see the dam in the backround.............VERY NICE BASS! I need to catch a few of those (and I will)

Frogman, Just to warn you...it's more of a gentle slope than a ledge. Hopewell's bottom is very similar to a bowl.

aaron; thanks for the info..........I have passed over the area numerous times and have not been able to find a traditional drop-off/ledge. So that would explain why I could never find "a ledge". I actually did well on Sunday off to the right of where you were fishing this weekend. Back in the LARGE shallow cove (right beside where you were). The water there is VERY shallow but there's a lot of rock in there. It is fishable though and they were in there!

TommyP; that's the one you caught on the lizard correct? I thought that might have been you but I didn't want to assume that it was. What a beauty; its very encouraging to know that there are some decent sized Bass in there. I will take the little ones all day long but I am hoping to add a few of those as well.
