Finished up my yard work early on Saturday and my son and I went up to Hopewell for some pan-fishing. We put the boat in the water around 6:30 PM and fished until dark. The weather was a bit iffy, but not bad. There were almost no fishing boats on the water and maybe a half dozen kayaks. There were a lot people fishing from shore near the boat ramp and on the pier. We forgot our bait at home but I dug out a can of Fisher's Choice wax worms. I have never used them before and they have been in my bag unopened for a year. We caught about 40 large blue gills using these wax worms. They are a bit slimy and don't stay on the hook very well but the fish loved them. We had a ball using ultra light tackle. We worked the left side of the lake (looking out from the boat ramp) where there are some steep drop offs. Lots of fun and all the fish were released.
