got my first sika deer this morning on public land in maryland. Took a couple years but I got him. Shot him with my 270 at about 120 yards.

I thought that the Sika deer was a native of Japan and Asia. Where they introduced to Maryland on purpose or are they an invasive species? Does the Maryland DCNR have seasons and the like?

they were brought over and released in the early 1900's and thrived in the swamps. Since they live in the marsh they don't compete for food with whitetails or do much crop damage so they are not considered invasive. These are a smaller sub species than the ones in japan. They have seasons regulated by the dnr.
