Heading up to Matamoras to fish the Big D from Pond Eddy down to Matamoras on Sunday. Have a raft reserved with Kittatinney rentals. They pick you up and take you twelve miles upstream, put you in the river and then you float and fish all the way back down. I've been told that the smallies, walleye and trout fishing is fantastic. Was told that between the three of us we should expect about 75 to 100 fish. Hope it's as good as I've been told. Will report on the outcome when I get back.

Got on the water around 9am yesterday. Rafting trips don't start till 9. Should have picked another day, it was Kittatinney's busiest day of the year. Must have been 300 rafts on the water and at least 1000 people is my guess. Fished all the way down stream, 9 hours. Water temp was 62 degrees, and crystal clear, air temp was 54. Got 14 smallies about 10 - 14 inches, some rock bass about 10 inches and one huge bluegill. All fish caught on white Senkos. Nothing on jointed Rapalas. Saw one walleye laying on the bottom in about 15ft of water, must have been more. Couldn't believe how clear the water was. Rivers around here just don't seem to compare. All in all a great trip. Scenery was beautiful, and the day wad fantastic. Will be back when the river isn't so packed with holiday revelers.

Great to hear the ole Delaware R. water quality is still good up there. Spent many summers growing up on the river, in the mid 60's as my family had a house right on the water above Martins Creek. Spent a lot of time swimming & fishing in the crystal clear water . In fact many of the smaller cottages back then actually ran a line into the water, and drank the water right from the river , only using an in line filter. Fishing was not so good in the area we were, back then, alot of small panfish, a few smallies and a lot of eels. Live bait was usually the bait of choice back then, and hellgramites usually got you a couple of nice smallies in the spring. Sure miss "the good old days"
