My brother and I hit Hopewell this morning about 7 to 10. Water was 80 degrees. Caught a few largemouth on senkos and trolled for Crappie. We caught some one twisty grubs and a few more bass. His friend was out with his boat having some luck with some bass and Crappie.
We also hit Marsh Creek last night - picked up some minnows. We only caught a few crappie before it started to thunder and lightning. I lost a few but it seemed the lake was hit hard that day, well it's hit hard every day. Switched to Senkos and had some smaller bass, you know it's messed up when you catch more fish with Senkos than live bait. I personally didn't catch anything, but we were only out from 7-10pm.
Friday night we went up to Tamaqua to a nice lake, not sure what it was called hoping to get some walleye. Again we caught a few crappie trolling and smaller bass, I was skunked.
So Hopewell was the highlight of my weekend, finally able to catch some fish. But even if you don't catch anything, it beats a good day at work. I think I'm going out tonight with some friends to Green Lane for carp or maybe Crappie. Havn't been fishing in weeks, so it was nice to get out and basically fish all weekend.

We were there after 4PM and caught a largemouth apiece before we even got out too far. Then I just kept catching yellow perch and 1 mammoth crappie and lost a crappie even bigger. I've fished there for a few years and never caught either of them before. I also snagged a big snapping turtle on a Rapala. I had seen him on the surface, but I got distracted by some screaming on the pier. When I cast back out in that area he was gone, but as soon as I felt the tug I realized he was just under the water. Luckily when he got to the boat I was able to shake him off with no danger to either of us I think they also sprayed the vegetation. 2 weeks ago I was cleaning the prop every 100' near the banks. All brown now and never lifted the motor once all evening.

Where were you catching your crappie at? By the dam?

I caught the crappies(one got off) in the large open area near the swimming/park area. In fact we caught all our fish in that area. Out in the middle of the lake with lipless rattle baits.
We saw schools of fish all over the creek channel on our sonar. There were some other boats just sitting out there fishing in the schools. Didn't catch a thing near the shoreline which is unusual.

We went out again this morning, very foggy, could only see maybe 100 yards max. We caught a few bass, gills, and crappie. Nothing big, I think next time we are going to try Scotts Run. It was tough fishing this morning, and last night when we were at Marsh Creek. Only a bass and crappie there. Maybe weather affecting fish, seems after the storms rolled through the temperature dropped significantly, one thing is for sure, they weren't on the end of our rods, the big ones at least.
