I purchased a bunch of Herter's foam floating decoys. My question is will they blow all over the lake if I don't some how have them anchored. Do I need some sort of weight for them or will they pretty much stay in place when the wind blows. I assume some movement is good but I could imagine chasing my decoys around the lake being a real pain.

yep. You need some decoy weights. I like at least 4 ounces. 6 would be better for geese on windy days. I like the mushroom anchors cause they grab the bottom real well. I have like 20 feet of line on mine cause some spots at marsh creek have deep drop offs near shore. If your in just a few feet off water you just loop the rope around the neck so they don't drift all over and mess up your decoy pattern.

If you end up needing some weights, we have them here at Gordons, they are 6oz

thanks 99. I will be in tomorrow for a couple of things. Do you guys have any of those flute goose calls with the built in back pressure for beginners. I was looking for the Primos big easy or Primos canadian goose flute or the big river long honker deal. Do you guys have anything along those lines. I have been practicing with a short reed but I suck and what to be able to make some decent calls next weekend.

short reeds are tough. I got a flute from gordons that I like a lot. I forget the brand but its called Black Magic. Mick lacey might be the brand.

Yea I think that was mick lacy, I do have a lot of goose calls in now. I have one primos flute left. and a bunch of other short calls. Most of them are aimed towards beginner callers so they are pretty easy to use, just gotta practice to get the right tones out of it.Not sure if you already stopped in yet, but maybe ill seeya when ya do!
