Guys, I've never caught a walleye before. DNR's website seems to make Struble look like a good place to start. I fish in Chester Co. about every other weekend (mostly unsuccessfully for muskies). Any tips on targetting walleyes in this lake? Is it even worth trying in August or does the bite pick up as it cools down?
Thanks.

I'd first make sure that you had somewhere to park before heading up there, as I know the lot was recently being repaved. I've fished Struble both from boat and shore for walleyes. For me, they have been hit or miss, but I have found that the middle/latter part of Spring has been more consistent for me. I bet fall can be quite good as well, but I have not tried it there. I've gotten them on the usual stuff: cutly tail grubs, night crawler on a harness, a few on a shallow crank.

My club "BrandyWine Bassmasters" out of Downingtown has adopted this lake. We have built and installed 80 Porcupine cribs in the lake with the co-operation of the fish commision. These cribs are fish habitat units, and we know are responsible for the upsurge of the fish population in the lake. These were placed at different points in the lake over a 4 year period at 20 per year. Recent walleye catches have increased over this 4 year period. We are currently looking into deepening the area at the dock to ease launching. The parking area should be open after Aug. 26th. I will keep updates posted on happenings at Struble.
