A buddy dragged his boat out from Delco last week and we spent spent an enjoyable afternoon on the water. Caught lots of Bluegills, a couple bass and perch and two crappie; which seem to be late this year. We were ready to leave and my friend got his jig and bobber snagged. He eased the boat in and I grabbed the bobber and slowly pulled. I said,"hey this is moving, I think your jig might come back." It was moving, but up came a large (22-24" shell) snapper hooked right in the neck, and none to happy about it. I asked if he wanted to reach down for the jig but he declined. Lucky thing I didn't follow the line down with my hand as this beast could have clipped a finger. Ah, the mystery of fishing!

I've had some run ins with snappers up at Ontelaunee... most fairly benign but there was one time. Chest deep in muddy water back at Peters and a softball sized head pops out a foot in front of you - will get you backpedaling right quick LOL.
