I took my boat out yesterday for the first time this year and was shocked that the lake was down about two feet from where it was only a few days earlier when I took a ride there after the last heavy rains. I don't understand what the point of drawing down the lake so much this time of year is, when a lot of fish are spawning in the shallows. Has anyone else found this situation strange and/or troubling? While it was great to get out yesterday, it was very windy and difficult to find spots that would allow me to fish effectively. I still enjoyed the day out with my wife and even though I didn't catch anything, I had fun and felt that the seven hours were well spent.

This is by far the most mismanaged lake in the state, overtime you will learn they care more about recreation than fishing here.

Went out Lastnight (5/14) and caught 3 fish, but they are hard to find, especially with the draw down. They just want their money!

Out today and just as surprised. Dropped my boat off on Sunday and the water was 5 feet past the railing. Today, 12 feet to get to the water. Who would be stupid enough to draw the water down during spawning. Any bass that spawned early left their eggs on what is now dirt. Cat tails and any other shoreline structure is gone. How stupid can they be?

Not just bass spawning, any fish in the lake now have reduced spawn for the year.

Yes, I wonder about the spawn being messed up because of this too. I was out Friday late afternoon, early evening, and the fishing was very tough. I did catch 3 perch and 2 bass, but fishing shallow was very tough. I just wonder about the effect of this draw down. Extreme it seems.

So sad that this lake is so poorly managed. First all the spraying now this. This lake is so unique for the area in the quality of bass it holds, I could only imagine what some quality management practices could produce.

Yes,
The DCNR has assigned some real rookies to manage the park. Some overweight lady who seems to be focused on keeping the vending machines stocked and some hillbilly with a wide brimmed hat from out west. They were watching me launch my boat the other day and when I asked them why the lake was so low they just looked at me and said because. Then they wanted to know if I had a launch permit. Where do they get these yahoos from? I did here the other day from another fisherman that they laid a bunch of these folks off. Hopefully these two are next.
