First time at Chambers - launched the kayak at around 9:00am in the heavy fog - eventually cleared - using my 6wt fly rod I caught a bunch of bluegill on top with a small gurgler. Lots of fun. Did see other anglers catching moderate size bass.

I too fly fish this lake, but haven't in a few weeks. Best topwater for me is in the evening with a white weedless popper or a deer hair frog. Have had very good nights there in past.

I have been going out just about every night to some local spots by my house in Thorndale .... even in this crazy heat I had some luck lately with smallmouth, largemouth, trout, and some sunnies in the creek that runs through Thorndale. Hard to access but so fun! The other day I was not having any luck and switched to a bead head worm and caught 2 nice rainbows cast after cast .... the nothing haha. Is that beaver creek you're fishing? Those trout i'm surprised are still in there, likely found a cold spot.

I might be wrong but to the best of my knowledge all stocked trout in many recent years are sterile. But I can say myself I caught a 4in rainbow in Beaver Creek many years ago so who knows. Perfect wading Creek this time of year cuz Lord knows very very few clear trails to the water now

Yea you won't be finding any wild trout in Beaver Creek, water is too warm. I believe most if not all stocked trout are now sterile. If you really want to open up your fly game look up www.paflyfish.com. Sign up as a member so you can read all forums. Very knowledgeable folk in there and you will likely never use a spinning rod again.

I don't think stocked trout are sterile... after all they need next springs trout. With that said I do believe that they have been bred or tricked with lighting to spawn earlier/later than they would naturally. IDK if they would all revert to nature in the wild, but some have.

You couldn’t be further from truth. You should read into how the state stocks trout.

So I researched the internet and read that after eggs and milt are mixed eggs get put in a special pressurized chamber that basically makes them sterile. Pa game commission didn't confirm or deny the use of this practice but they did say trying to stock trout with the purpose to achieve a wild trout population is too expensive to take on. Pa game commission also said if conditions are right stocked trout MIGHT try to reproduce. That last statement makes me wonder how many stocked trout in northern Pa try to reproduce. I would guess conditions get perfect up there.

West Branch of the Brandywine before cvlle is good. You get surprise 2lb smallmouth in there at times. Close to 2lb fallfish and wash down holdover trout. There is a trout rodeo there every year from buisness 30 upstream. I heard a couple Palomino's in there right now still.

I have always wanted to try the West Branch of the Brandywine but when I drove through Coatesville to try to find a place to access it .... I was having trouble. Plus ... I didn't want to park my car on the main strip of 30 through the town. My car stands out a little and didn't want any issues haha.

Jmmpitt83, when you start reading that fly fish forum you will quickly learn where to go. Utilize the maps they have posted and water gauges. trout fishing really won't pick up for another month or so due to the water temps. summer = bass and other warmwater fish. Take an afternoon and drive up to the little lehigh, about an hour from dtown. There is a good area to fish right along the fish hatchery, I actually think it's off fish hatchery road. If you are looking for cold water, big fish and an occassional wild brown trout. this is a good start point. Most others fishing this area are very nice and helpful for newbies.

This is great thank you so much! I love exploring new spots and have fun catching anything but I would love to get a big fat trout haha. I will check out little Lehigh that sounds awesome. Checking the map now too for Fish Hatchery Rd.

Doubt if you would have issues parking on the main strip where the little water park is. Or start driving north on 82 and the very first left you see take it. During the rodeo people park next to the tracks all the time. That's normally where I park. Never heard of anyone car getting messed with there. And right there is a nice waterfall where trout always seem to make it to and holdover there. The Palomino's are between there and the business 30 bridge

I have a new place to explore I am very excited. I think I know what water park you are talking about is .... Palmer Park? It replaced the old closed swimming pool.

Nope Palmer park is on 9th Ave no fishable water there. It is a new little water park there tho. The other little water park is just passed uptown in a place us locals call the flats. It used to be a old stainless steel mill there. Sits right on the creek. That's where the registration and prize stand is for the rodeo
