Since I haven't seen it posted here figured I would put the news out. Our good friends at Gordon's decided to to put a petition up so we can try and get Marsh creek to panfish enhancement lake status. This is due to many years of people fishing the bridge and my guess is taking thousands of 5-8in crappie home to eat. Crappie experts say takes crappie 3yrs to reach 9in. So they keeping thousands of crappie that may have only spawned once themselves. I also would like to point out to the bass and musky fisherman those fish eat a lot of crappie so signing the petition will give you better quality fish in the long run as well. So if anyone visits the lake soon make a point to stop in and sign the petition let's keep Marsh creek a good fishing lake

Thanks for the info and good cause. I will be sure to sign. Just curious. Is there a state stocking program for crappies or any other fish species at Marsh? Hard to believe this small lake could sustain those creel limits each year naturally?

Yes the state stocks it. If you Google Pa warm water/cool water stocking you can find every lake in each county that is stocked with different species from bluegill, crappie, bass, walleye, musky pickeral, etc

Thanks! Very interesting site. Not a single bass or perch stocked in the past 20 years. Lots of channel catfish but i've not seen one there yet. Not as frequent crappie stocking as I would think to maintain the pressure?

Is the petition online to sign, or should we stop in the store?

I am not a Gordon's employee or representative so my guess is it is not online. This is a Gordon's website here so if it was online it would be on here is my guess. So my suggestion is stop in and sign to be sure

I was there a few weeks ago and it was a madhouse at the bridge. there must of been over 20 guys banging out those crappies one after another. it was like an opening day to trout season.
