Caught some nice Crappie today. Largest one was about 10".
3' of water, white jig head with a orange curly grub. One barfed up a small minnow.

Not sure if you could catch crappie in Chambers now on fly rod. Summer time crappie pattern in a very deep lake makes them hard to locate. Come fall probably be easier. but if you really have the itch Maryland has lots of 10-8ft deep lakes and they still killing crappie down there. Just check Pier and Surf fishing forum online. This 1 guy catches them almost Everytime he targets them.

At the boat launch if you go left all the way to that end i've seen some crappies shallower later towards dusk or I would think also early in the morning. Would be worth a shot? Odds are something will definitely bite.

The left side holds some Crappie, across from the reeds you will see some grass beds, on the other side of those beds towards the main lake there should be some.
If you look towards the damn you will see a pseudo point on your left, thats also worth a shot.
Finally, right near the shoreline, left of the boat dock you will see a root ball exposed, to the right of that ( looking from water to shore) there is a tree that overhangs. They tend to hang out right under those over hanging branches. Try a size 8 or smaller octopus hook with a nikko stone fly (no weight).

I will probably give that a shot soon! You do not think they would take a dry fly?

They eat on top or just below the surface. I am not a fly fisherman. Starting in August it would be neat if you could match the evil lattern fly and try that.

As far as the tips, happy to help. I stink at fishing I feel this year though I really turned it around. It's amazing how much you have to learn through failure before you can start seeing success.

Side note on the crappie. For me they only tend to bite later in the evening, around 1/4 of 8 PM.

Location selection based off time of year and water temp, and a combo.
Crappie and Perch were super active end of Feb/early March for me. I had the advantage of insulated waters, when the ice would receed I would go fishing at lunch.
Struble in the evening on the right side in April the bass come pretty shallow, got my personal best 3.5/4LBs on a craw fish.
During the day the bass are shadow or much dwellers. They don't have eyelids, the sun is pretty bright and the the ones you can catch without a boat will be in the shadows or under muck.
