Waded right off the parking lot yesterday at lunch(yes I know it was cold...). I used a Berkley Lightning, a 1/16 jig head and a orange curly tail. Caught 15 perch in the hour, great time catching fish in Feb.
When your in the lot, go to the middle. You will see a large rock towards the bank, there are cattails right there. The perch were in 2' of water, about 5' from the cat tails. I released them all.
Air temp was ~38, maybe a 5mph wind pushing towards that side of the lake.
Sounds awesome surprised no walleye among the perch. You a brave man to Wade in this weather
I received insulated waders from Santa this year. I always move super slow keeping a steady base. Last thing I want to do is trip. I stay real close to shore also just in case my feet start getting cold, which is how I know its time to get out of the water.
