I'm a newbie to crappie fishing. From my knowledge, the crappies usually become active when water temp reaches 50s. Some people says it starts as soon as ice breaks which i remember was mid Feb 2017. Just try to get some rough idea if Mid feb or early Mar would be a starting time?
Fished a lot in Nov, Dec at Belmar NJ for getting good number of Sundial, shads. Stopped when water temp below 42. Tried marsh creek in last couple weeks, last time i caught 12 perch was at Dec 28 2017 from the bank. Then they disappeared one day after when air temp went below 30. Tried bridge once a week from Jan. Nothing biting.
Now i'm counting down how many days to let my rods sit in car trunk.

One interesting point, my friend told me he was checked by a local policeman last year for checking license etc at the bridge. The cop told him there'a guy one day before caught 170+ crappies and received a 6,000 DOLLAR ticket for over limit. 54 per fish * 120...... That's the time i'm looking for getting real crappie fishing!

Last year I think it was Feb 25th very warm day and the crappie were all around the bridge but they were only 5-7in long. But yea at Marsh Creek on the bridge pretty much soon as ice leaves crappie come. But you will catch tons of small ones. Oh and they hang around until late April easy

I'm not a crappie fisherman but if memory serves me correctly it's April when the action is best at Marsh Creek, esp. near the bridge on Little Conestoga.
Yes, I met Officer Bonney last yr and he told me about the fisherman who caught 180 crappie. Bonney wrote him a ticket for $6,000. I thanked him for upholding the law. These lawbreakers give a bad name to fisherman and fishing.

Unquestionably believe that that you stated. Your favourite justification seemed to be at the net the simplest factor to bear in mind of. I say to you, I definitely get irked at the same time as other people consider worries that they plainly don't recognize about. You managed to hit the nail upon the highest and also outlined out the whole thing with no need side effect , other people could take a signal. Will probably be again to get more. It's interesting that a great many of these "Crappie" people speak of in Marshcreek Lake are actual Blue Gill.

Been warm past couple days. If they not on the bridge yet should be any day now. Remember normally if you there when they 1st arrive it's normally a better quality of fish. After that it's small crappie everywhere
