Brother and I were out. Don’t have an auger so we fished holes that were already drilled. No bites. Other guy had 14 crappie. About 4” of ice by the ramp and pier, thinner as the lake gets deeper.

How’s the ice going to be after tomorrow? Looking to get out, don’t have an auger but I figure I can find some old holes.

Anyone know anything about toothie critters in Hopewell?? There are some small pickerel in the lake plus about two years ago there was a monster musky caught out in front of the swimming pool area (it was featured in the PA Outdoor News). YEARS ago there was supposedly a decent Pike population in the lake but I am pretty sure they have all been gone for a number of years now. I have fished that lake a few hundred times and have only caught Bass, Pickerel, Crappies, Sunnies and Yellow Perch. There's a bunch of very large Carp in the lake as well. About four years back I was chatting with one of the Park Rangers and he said there were a few small Musky still in the lake.

around 2008-2009 i saw a picture of a big musky caught by the lillys to the right of the boat launch. the picture was shown to my by one of the boat rental kids. He was a friend of one of my good friends. i looked up old biologist reports and found a early spring 2002 trap net survey and they did catch four northern pike between 24 and 30 inches

Hopewell Jan 16, 2018 One ice fisherman down near the dam breast. At boat ramp, kids playing ice hockey.
Northern pike- in 1995 caught a 24" and a 37" Both were returned to the lake. Many smaller one. Never seen a musky.

Fri Jan 26 2018 1 PM No one here. Some water at the very edge of the boat ramp. Looks like open water in the middle of the lake?? The geese may be keeping it open?
Looks like old ice for the most part. Getting warmer now for a few day. Over 40 degrees now, Last night was 18 at its lowest.
I would guess its not safe out there?

Plenty of folks out today, even a few brave souls down near point this morning. I don't think anyone felt safe enough to venture near dam. This afternoon everyone stayed up a near the island end of lake.
