Hitting the Susquehanna for some topwater smallmouth with the fly rod. Using gurglers and mouse flies. Taking my 8 weight. What leader would you use? I have some 3x and a couple 16 lb leaders I use for carp. I can pick something else up if needed. Opinions?

When I fish the white fly hatch I use 2x 9'leaders in my 7wt.
Are you fishing sinking tip line or anything other than WF floating?

2x or 3x tippet is probably fine. I fished it earlier in the summer with 4x and didn't have any problems. If you're fishing a rocky stretch you'll want to check it periodically for abrasion though.
