Lake Galena, anyone fish it? Just wondering, found out it's only a half hour ride for me. Checked it out a few days ago but only caught a bullhead catfish on a jig while fishing for bass. Looks like a tough lake to fish, dingy water, not much structure but pretty sizeable at 350 acres. I've seen pics of large catfish and big bass that have come out of the lake. Very challenging piece of water compared to Marsh Creek with the water clarity, but doesn't get the pressure.

I looked into last year but never made the trip. A couple guys I spoke with said yes there are bass in there but it's tough to fish from shore and evidently they were hassled by some ranger about wading too deep ...he claimed they were swimming or something. I took the story with a grain of salt, but the bottom line was that it seemed a lot of effort for little result. If you're 30 mins away though it might be worth the trip. I have plenty of water closer to me that I don't have enough time to fish.

I tried it during the fall. The lake itself kind of sucked, but the waters below the dam have a lot of yellow perch.
