I have to say that I have enjoyed this page for a number of years now (and still do). But that being said; where are all the guys that used to post on this page? There's a bunch of "newer" guys that post on here a lot and it's much appreciated and fun to chat back and forth with but where did all the "old-timers" go? I see that some of them log onto the page regularly but yet never post anything anymore. It's like they come on here to read our secrets but never post any of their own. We're not pro fisherman risking thousands of dollars by revealing info on here. We're just a bunch of folks that love fishing and a lot of us enjoy sharing info so that it might help the other guy out on the water. I remember 5+ years ago this page was going nuts on a Monday with weekend posts from all of the regulars; now they do not post anything anymore. So I just find it a little disappointing that these guys still read info but yet never post anything. A page survives with interaction among its members. Without posts a page will slowly fade away. Unfortunately if I look at the page now compared to 5-6-7 years ago.....it certainly seems like it might slowly be heading in that direction. I have been on this page for a long time and have posted over 500 times and I have revealed a lot of information. I have received many messages over the years as well and have had some awesome conversations. I have also posted many generic fishing reports just to stay active and let folks know where they are biting. My point is; I have shared a lot of info and I still go out and catch Bass. I cannot say that by giving info I have hurt my fishing at all; plus I have certainly received my fair share of info as well. But a HUGE thank you to all of the folks on here that do take the time to post information and reports!
While I am a firm believer that you must put in the time on any given lake and that's how you truly learn a lake it really doesn't hurt to offer pointers for guys just starting out on a lake. You don't even need to report exactly what you were using; just a "hey; I went to Hopewell and caught 10 bass in the weeds" etc.
Several years ago while fishing with a guide in Florida; they were on their phones all day with each other sharing info as to where, what, how etc. They were all in it together and I feel as though we should be as well. So that's just my two cents for the day.

A big thumbs-up to Frogman for posting what I feel is also true. In my over 40 yrs of fishing I have found many fisherman unwilling to share anything about where they fish, how they fish, bait/lures used. It's through sharing that we can improve our personal results and enjoyment in fishing.
Think about your son, daughter, grandson who embarks on fishing. Are you unwilling to share your insights with them? Why is it any different with anyone new to the sport?
It's a real shame b/c I also know that there are lots of us willing to share. I fish a few times a week 9 months of the year and when I meet new folks or those I see every week I talk about what's working and what's not. Funny thing is once I open up, they're more likely to open up as well.

I am happy to share anything that I can. The sad truth is that I have fished very very little this season so far. Hope to change that tomorrow or Thursday evening if the Fates allow.
I have gotten a few shad trips in and when the water/weather has been cooperative (the weather has not been kind to shad fishermen this year) I have had good success. My last trip to Conowingo (5/1) yielded good numbers of white and hickory shad but an increasing amount of small stripers and white perch. A sure sign that the water has reached a temperature where the shad will become more interested in spawning and thus harder to catch. Might get one more run in or may just switch to Bass/Muskies.

I just haven't had any time to post anything this year. I haven't really done anything interesting either. I got a boat; getting that setup the way I want and getting a tow vehicle has taken up all my "fishing" time. I'm getting the hitch put on this week and I should be back on a regular schedule. Most of my trips will include 2 tag along toddlers (4 and 2), so we'll see what happens! This Sunday I have a tournament down on the Nanticoke in DE, but I'm sure no one here is interested in information for down there All that being said, if anyone has any questions I can help with, please feel free to ask, I'm always happy to help out if I can.

Harry; I have been hitting Blue Marsh (and ponds) recently; the ponds because of all the rain etc. Is Chambers till so busy? Last time I was down there about 3 weeks ago the place was packed with bass Boats. I know that lake gets busy; especially in the beginning of the season. How has it been the past few weeks etc.?

I haven't been either. May is a busy month with mothers day and my anniversary, plus we've had a bunch of kids parties. My last time out was end of April and Chambers wasn't too bad then.

Completely off topic question ... what does "salthingyer" mean, if anything? I have seen this word appear on numerous fishing boards and can't figure out if it is the strange product of spellcheck corrupting the word 'salthingyer' or if somehow, in nearly 50 years of fishing both fresh & salt, I've managed to overlook this definition.
WRT original post ....I am guilty about keeping my mouth shut about locations, although I will discuss tactics, weather, behavior, etc. happily. I've seen posts asking for specific coordinates and that type of thing bugs me. Fishing is fishing, not surgery. Go put time in and figure stuff out. Nothing makes me happier than go fishing for a day and see no one else. That gets harder and harder to do every year. Confession: I am pretty anti-social :-).

I will say also I only fish freshwater hard in spring and fall or if conditions are right winter. After joining this site I realized it's more a dominant largemouth bass forum. I don't eat them so don't fish for them. Seems like me wader and icemole are the only ones who panfish hard . That's why I cut back on posting among other things

Wader is correct you have to write 2 separate words in order for it to read correctly salt water

I wouldn't say I panfish(crappie) hard ...LOL. They fill a void for me. I do not fish for musky, walleye or bass during the spawn for those fish.. Walleye closed mid March came back "in" May 6th in the old days musky used to follow the same days, bass used to close mid April and reopen mid June. So mid April becomes my crappie(although I do target them again in the fall) and hybrid striper time. Bigger breeder crappie go back in the water but I will keep a few 8-10" for a meal or two. Hybrids are sterile so no issue there.
PS... I do post fairly often more giving advice than trips as I have some health issues that limit my fishing. In addition to fishing about 250 days a year from the 80's until my issues - I worked(managed) in a tackle shop for a few years(mid 90's) and fished tourneys - the old Goodtimes and Anglers Choice trails in the mid Atlantic region as well as the BM buddy T's and the Tuesday nighters even won a few on BM... LOL.
