Hit the lake about 8:00 AM and fished until 12:30. It certainly was a chilly; windy morning on the lake (I should not have worn shorts) but a successful trip regardless. My Son and I brought 19 Bass into the boat with several of them right around 2 lbs. Nothing huge by any means but a lot of fun anyway. As the morning wore on and the wind picked up the bass started getting smaller though, haha. What really surprised me was the number of actual bass boats on the water late morning. Typically you will see a bass boat here and there throughout the season but for a while just about every boat on the lake was a bass boat. Also while we were there the Park Rangers did buoy off the northern end of the lake (which is for migratory birds - it just so happens it runs parallel with the closed bass season). But there's still plenty of great water to fish even with the stump field closed off until mid June. I tried a few new baits and caught one or two but my good ol' reliable Chambers Lake finesse bait/technique looks like it's going to be very good again this season (sorry; I will not share that info, haha). Surprisingly all but two of the bass were caught in very shallow water. Water temps stayed around 58-59 degrees the whole time there since the sun was not out shining the whole time.
