Went to Scott's Run over the weekend in my kayak and caught one largemouth about 14" and a nice pickerel almost exactly 24". By far my personal best pickerel! I was there from 7am till about 10:30am trying to beat the heat but it was still pretty hot.

EXCELLENT JOB! I knew there were a lot of Pickerel in Scott's Run; I didn't know there were any that large in there. Do you mind sharing what you caught the Pickerel on (if not I understand).

Caught the pickerel on a white swim jig along the edge of the grass. First time using a swim jig so i'd say it's definitely worth keeping around! The bass I got on a popper.

Nice! I had very good success on Hopewell early this Spring with a white swim jig. Never has luck with them at Chambers or Blue Marsh but it seems like a great bait down at French Creek (Scott's Run and Hopewell). Must be all the weeds etc.

Very cool! Hopewell has always been the land of the dinks for me but i'll have to give the white swim jig a chance. Definitely seems like an excellent bait for around the weeds.
Thanks for the "EXCELLENT JOB!" comment! I appreciate you sharing the excitement of catching a beautiful fish.

Yes; Hopewell is the land of dinks for sure.....but the Bass I caught on Swim Jigs there this past Spring actually seemed to be a little larger (average size was around 14").
I would have much rather I caught that Pickerel, HAHA! But I can certainly appreciate when someone else catches a beauty like that as well!

That's a really good average for Hopewell in my experience. I'll be sure to give the swim jig its chance to shine.
Haha yea I was very pleased with that Pickerel!

The water is still down about 5 feet, or at least it was when I was there last weekend. The sign they have posted said it should be completed the end of August.
