Another day out on Blue Marsh and four more bass to my count for 2016. Boy was the action slow this week with the storm that moved through the night before and high water temps etc. (the water was like muddy pea soup). It took almost three hours to catch the first one. Every time I head out there it seems as if I need to change things up and fish a different way. I guess that's why it took so long for the first bite. I fished places I never have before because the "somewhat-reliable" spots produced -0-. I ended up in 7-9' of water fishing the bottom. But I did catch four which is certainly respectable for this very tough lake; especially mid summer when the lake is at it's toughest. One of them came in just a touch over 3 lbs; the rest were in the 14-15" range. If you've never fished this lake it sure can be rough in the summertime; unlike some of the other lakes around these Bass here do not give bites away; you need to work for each and every Bass you pull out of this lake. If you've mastered the other lakes (Chambers, Hopewell, Struble, Marsh Creek) then you should give this lake a try; this lake separates the amateurs from the knowledgeable Bass fisherman. I am happy to report I have been holding my own on this lake so far this season (no skunk yet). Maybe I know a little bit more about this sport than I gave myself credit for. I can always go to Chambers and catch 10+ Bass most outings; but this lake; Blue Marsh is a challenge (but a fun one). LOVE THIS LAKE!
