I was over at Scott's Run lake today to try to fish with my boat, I arrived and saw the water was WAY down, and thought the dam broke. The game commission drew the water down to clear out the reeds by the spillway, and fix it. The water was down about 6-8 feet, but the dcnr guy showed up and said he only wanted it down 4'. The lake will fill up 2-4 more feet, but it is still not enough to put your boat in! The whole lake is mud, so wading is a no, but you can still fish. I fished it anyway and caught one bass. The upper end of the lake is empty, leaving only the channel, and the dambreast which is only a few feet deep. It would be some good fishing if you can get your boat in, but no trailers, or large boats will ever make it. Repairs will be done by August 31st and it started July 5th. Thank you for reading.

Signs of fish all over Scotts Run lake today 7/27/16 at 8:15 am. Bass feeding at the edges. Unknow what was churning the water towards the middle. One guy working on the spillway. Video @ Youtube

My guess is the fish you saw in the middle were small bass(4-8") schooled up. I've seen it at Hopewell, Chambers, and Leaser. I downsized my worm to a 4" slider worm and caught some, now I won't bother if it looks similar - now if minnies are flying out of the water I'll cast LOL.

Aug 29 8:30 am. Scotts Run is slowly filling. Still to low to use the boat ramp. Spillway was repaired, but nothing else that i can see. I see also, in the other thread, pickerel were caught. Thats the last fish i pulled out before the drawdown. Biggest pickerel was 22" that i seen caught from a boat years ago. Then there was that record bass. Next trout stocking is 10/05/16 for the winter season. May take that long to fill the lake, if there is very little rain ??

Youtube Video link Rumor- Winter trout stocking to be later in Oct.?? Water to low and temperature to high. The new grass might be a problem if fishing from the bank. Water is to low to use the boat ramp for some. But there was a boat out fishing this morning, Sept 28th. 11am.

Water level- not flowing over spillway. Still low. But enough water to use the boat ramp, without sticking in the mud. Fishing from shore, the dam breast is better then along the sides. Fish biting on bait. Not so much spoons and flies. The browns are jumping and not biting. The rainbows love Berkley PowerBait .
