Yes it rained, kinda of a steady drizzle on & off all day. It took us a while to dial the bite in but we finally figured they wanted green-brown colors. In total we had 43 smallies & 2 walleyes. Most were between 2-3 pounds which made a nice day. Only problem I had was trying to eat a peanut butter & jelly sandwich in the wet!

Sorry for the confusion,. I am really bad at the names of all the spots on the river... it was the launch at CONNOWINGO... We went up toward the dam first then down toward the power plant later in the morning. Seems like we always get bit on a variety of lures; swimbaits, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, tubes & topwater all produced fish. The rain was not bad, steady drizzle more than a rain. Water was clear.

Nope, still can't keep bass this time of year (who does anyway?) but it is legal to fish for them below Holtwood Dam. From the PFBC website:
Cumberland, Dauphin, Juniata, Lancaster, Northumberland, Perry, Snyder, York Susquehanna River (98.0 miles) from the inflatable dam near Sunbury downstream to Holtwood Dam, including all tributaries to a point 1/2 mile upstream from the confluence. From 12:01 a.m. on May 1 through June 17:
CLOSED SEASON, NO TOURNAMENTS. During the closed season, it is unlawful to target or attempt to catch a bass. A bass that is accidentally caught during the closed season must be immediately released unharmed without being removed from the water. It is unlawful to possess bass in, on or along these waters.

boat or wading? I have never fished it from shore so some else can help you with that. From a boat...be careful & go slow..MANY big rocks & ledges right below the surface. We seem to have our best luck in moving water, which sounds strange because it is always moving, but places where the current is broken up by rocks. Not the main flow but slightly slower flow than the main channel. Think trout fishing in a stream or river.

Havre de Grace is a ramp on the extreme lower river... right where the river empties into the Bay... fantastic area... go around the corner & you can get into the lower river. Well marked and no rocks to worry about until you get up well past RT 1 bridge. The Connowingo area extends between 2 dams ... do map quest for an idea of the area. Here you have to be carefull.. if you put in at the Peach Bottom plant there is less worry about rocks. The ramp up towards RT 372 has channel markers to get you across to the other side... but honestly you can just start fishing all around the ramp & the islands you will see out from the ramp.

Just a little correction, the RT. 1 bridge is the Conowingo Dam. If you launch in Havre de Grace, once you get the Islands above Port Deposit you better know the river very well.
