I've been trying to find answers and have not been able to as of yet; just wondering if concealed carry is allowed on Blue Marsh? I'm thinking no; but does anyone know for sure?

Had same question asked by a guy at marsh creek. U can carry concealed anywhere except courthouses and schools. Open carry or concealed does not matter just don't forget your license.

The Army Corps does ban firearms with exception to legal hunting. A bill was introduced and passed in the House to allow carrying on Army Corps land in 2015. I don't see any reports of the Senate passing it, or the President approving it. Here's Blue marsh's phone # 610-376-6337. Get it right from the horse's mouth. Please post the answer. Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken, it is owned by the US Army Corp of Engineers, however, Pennsylvania's Uniform Firearms Act provides a pre-emption statute which prevents anyone other than the state legislature from regulating the carry of firearms. This includes state and local parks, 18 Pa.C.S. ยง 6109 (m.2) This also allows you to carry on Army Corp of Engineers property as well......
H.R. 2028 the "Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2016," .
So long story short, yes, you may open carry or carry concealed a firearm on your person at Blue Marsh Hope that helps you guys out!

Just called Blue Marsh. You are NOT allowed to carry a firearm on Corps property unless you are hunting or are a law enforcement officer. If you read the info on this, H.R. 2028 the "Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2016, it only shows it passing the House, and never became law.

Thanks for the info Shellback. I know that at other lakes you are allowed to CC but given the fact that Blue Marsh is considered "Federal" I wasn't sure. I know at Chambers they say you're not allowed but when speaking to one of the Rangers she said that there's a PA Law that over-rules their regulations so they cannot do anything about you concealing. She said the only thing they would appreciate is that if you get stopped you let them know you are concealing. But at Blue Marsh I guess it sounds like only the "bad-guys" would be carrying; that sucks!

Don't forget post offices too. I wasn't aware of the army corp thing. Thanks for the info.
I'll have to see if anything has changed with state parks. title 18 and 17 statutes were conflicting on open carry.
There is a law preventing townships, municipalities and cities from enacting laws prohibiting carry. There are a bunch of montgomery county signs on the schuylkill trail that aren't valid. I actually emailed them and I was not the first. They said someone else made the signs for them and they were aware they can't prohibit firearms.

Well what's the point of having a CC if u can't apply it. So if somebody comes after u with a shotgun because they r hunting ducks or pheasants, we are suppose to let that slide. Yeah that makes a lot of sense. I guess we should carry a shotgun or a small 22 with us when we go fishing

State parks are okay for carrying. I believe National Forests are okay too. It's just the Army Corps that still has regs against carrying. As noted above, the House did pass a bill for Army Corps to comply, but it still has to be approved by the Senate and the President. The bill is probably sitting dead till they get enough flak from citizens to get it going again.

I guess what I don't agree with or what doesn't make sense to me is that you are allowed to hunt at Blue Marsh which typically requires a firearm of some type but yet if you're fishing on the lake (or not hunting) then no firearm? Does this make sense to anyone? I understand rules are rules so I abide by them; but this one seems a little confusing to me.

Stuff can happen anywhere, and I realize that. But if I thought I needed to carry to fish certain water, I'd have to cross that place off my list. Never felt uncomfortable at Blue Marsh. There are launches on the Susquehanna that have some seedy looking folks hanging around. I like to be back before dark.

I'm not afraid to fish Blue Marsh w/o a concealed weapon; I was just curious as to what the rules are. But yes; I agree.....if it would be a place you would be afraid to be w/o CC then I would mark it off my list as well. Again; I was just curious as to what the rules for BM really were, because there seemed to be so much confusion on other forums on the internet. But this is why I love this forum; lot's of folks chiming in with info......thanks for everyone who replied. I was really trying to decide whether I should get a CC permit; sometimes I think I should other times not. The one ranger I talked to at Chambers last year actually said that they certainly wouldn't be fishing anywhere around here without carrying; so that had me thinking. I remember seeing on this forum last season about an incident at Chambers where someone was breaking into vehicles in the parking lot; again.....that had me thinking. I have also run across a few crazy acting raccoon while shore fishing over the years; a knife won't help a whole lot if a rabid animal starts heading your way, haha!

Frogman, I called and was informed I may carry CC while fishing, she instructed me to unload gun when out of boat, I talked to the Pa FBC, they have no concern if you carry,
