Today, my friend and I traveled down to the dam at Struble Lake, and were far from disappointed. We set up shop at the far right corner, and the weather conditions were perfect, low humidity and high 60's, minimal wind. I caught 4 Largemouth in total, but got numerous bites and lost one right before landing it. My best was 16 in, 2 3/4 lbs. Everyone else was catching too, and for a first timer I will definitely be returning soon. I found this lake to produce more and larger than at Marsh, because only after one trip I caught more than I have total ever at Marsh. I would recommend for anyone going, boat or land, to go to the dam for best results!

Fisherman Steve inspired me to try Struble again this year. My past experience has been just ok....usually 1 lb bass if any....Sunday was warmest of the weekend days and at 7 a.m. there were only a few boats out. We struck out at the dam...but did well along grassy areas with red/black worms....got 5 really nice bass -- ones I weighed were 2+ lb and really gave a strong fight all the way to the boat. Water warmed to 70 deg by noon and winds picked up as morning grew older. Water had a greenish tint...that's new...not! Thanks for the tip on Marsh Creek post from yesterday!

Glad I could inspire you to try it again, the dam there is a gold mine in itself, holding Crappie, Bass and the elusive few Walleye. When I was there I asked people and no one said they saw any Walleye, but huge splashes near the middle hinted their presence.

are you sure the big splashes aren't carp?

I am not sure, I didn't know there were any carp there, this is a sketch I found online of depths and species locations around the lake. I doubt these are 100% accurate but it is a favorable guideline. Have you heard about carp being there, I know they are known to be very "jumpy", I have seen that behavior before.

There are carp in struble lake. Some were caught while ice fishing this year. Not positive but I think the 25ft and 30ft depths are not correct. I was only marking 16ft depth where it says 25ft on the map.

nice map. not sure I would agree with location of fish.....but general trend of depths look close... I hear good fishing stories by the dam but never got one there. just wondering what folks who caught LMB near the dam used....worms, jigs, crankbait I've had best luck with dark worms....on all 4 banks near grass or under trees.

When I went on Sunday I used baby bass colored 5" Yamasenkos, wacky rig. This is my go-to set-up, and I rarely use anything else but soft plastic worms. You can also rig worms from 5"-7" with Texas rig, but I like wacky because of the vibration effect and that to fish it takes less drastic motion. Let it float to the bottom, jerk and reel in slowly then let it fall again.

That map was on our original web site. I acquired it from a customer(don't recall who it was) but it was back in the 80's.

The deepest I've seen is 16'.
Maybe it was deeper 30 years ago. I don't know.
