That was a cool video with some very nice perch!! I almost lost one of my rods last weekend to a largemouth bass. Pulled it out of the darn rod holder!! Got there in the nick of time like you.

Sunday my buddy and i were talking to bassbum and we left our rods in the water, in our shelter. went in a little later and my rod that was in the bucket rod holder was half way down the hole. only reason it wasnt gone was because it got caught on another rod/rod holder next to it. Wish i coulda got that one!

What other types of rod holders are out there? I have one on a bucket but I usually fish a couple rods.

I have been looking at picking up a jaw jacker. Seems like a nice setup. It actually loads the rod and when the fish bites it will set the hook itself. Check them out online.

Jaw jacker look interesting. Seen some videos where they fell over and almost went it but def sets hard...I have a rod holder that sits on the ice and one the hangs off the bucket

I have a Jaw Jacker and I can tell you it's a no brainer. Easy to set up and when it goes off the hook is set! I think it would take quite a bit to tip it over, the legs have spikes to hold it in place. I have it set for the lightest of bites and one day at MC I was jacking perch and gills like crazy. It's a fun way to dead stick and allows you to use your rod unlike a tip up where you have to hand line your catch. It makes a distinct sound when it goes off to alert you when a fish is on.

Anyone try those quickset rid holders in eBay? 3 for 10 bucks. Not sure if they are junk. Looks like worst case scenario it make a decent rod holder.
