Just like panfishin, my Marcum suffered a stroke and is on it's way back for repairs. Sure do miss it! Today I plan on setting up my Jaw Jacker w/ live minnow and do some dead stickin. I agree, gonna give Carpenters a rest and do some running and gunning. Anyone else going out?

Do any of you fish off hours after dark? Been striper fishing for years and only fish at night. Been thinking about getting some time on water ice after work and looking for ideas of where to try in the dark or whether it is worth the effort. Not looking for anyone's honey hole just a lake name, and access point or whether i should just stay home and watch TV.
I've had success at sunset but then it fizzles out. Always wondered if it picked up once the fish have fully adjusted to the dark.
Any thoughts are appreciated. And to head off any wise cracks I already know I'm crazy.

Cant say how the fishing is down by the dam but I did see a guy walk across the ice there to fish the other side. There were a couple holes drilled in the really deep water, probably 60 feet. I poked a couple holes in the area of the dam and it was about 8 inches thick. Should be safe. Dont know what could be lurking that deep though?

That was me probing the deep. Many years ago I did well there on jumbo perch. Nothing but small perch there.

we also looked around the deep water out there near the area jigger was fishing,,,same as he said,,small perch,,,a couple crappies,, that was it,, seems like all the action is in the cove,,i did mark a couple piles of fish off the point that seperates carpenters and the next cove down in 33-36 ft,but they wouldn't bite. gonna get coldddddd over the next week boys

The reports are slacking. You guys aint getting tired if ice fishing yet are you? Fished yesterday. 3 respectable perch, a few really decent crappie and all the blue gills you wanted. Got a few pumpkin seed or I guess maybe they are red eared sunfish. If you get one look close at them, suck a pretty fish.

Fished yesterday until the wind became unbearable! Picked up some nice perch on the Jaw Jacker and some nice crappie on the jigging pole. Been doing ok seeing how my Marcum is in for repairs and I'm fishing blind. Looks like this artic blast is going to extend the ice season like last year which is totally fine by me!

Hey ice man, good fishing with you a few days ago. How do you like the law jacker? I was checking them out and was thinking about getting 1 0r 2? I been fishing on the ice since I was 9. Im 45 now and never had a FF till 2 years ago. Now I would consider not going if I didn't have one, Im ruined

Jigger, I'm just now getting the hang of my Jaw Jacker, had to tweek the sensitivity on it. It's a simple setup and most times when it goes off the fish are hooked, thats where the fine tuning comes into play, now it's good to go. It's another option to fishing and it's fun, money well spent! As for the FF, you become so dependant on it,I was lost the first day without it but adapted quickly, the alternative is sit home waiting for it and that ain't gonna happen! Should have it back just as this artic blast moves out and then its "fish on!".

Anyone fishing other lakes? Been fishing Marsh past few weeks and doing well so hesitant to try other spots. I'm out of commission for this weekend but probably back at it soon after the cold front. Been thinking about poconos but not in the mood to cut holes in 16 inches of ice. Maybe Peters Creek. Man that place was great when I was a kid but past few tries has been a disappointment with lots of dinks and a few LM bass. Hoping less pressure has given it a chance to bounce back.
I think I need a change and although plenty of fish at Marsh there has been a lot of fishing pressure there. Like someone else said its been carpet bombed.

Iceman when I take people that haven't really ice fished before I let them use my FF. The difference to me is when I don't see a fish on it I jig harder to call them in. Once I see them then I fine tune my jigging. When Im not using it I just jig like theres always a fish there. Takes more effort and focus.
