Fish today with 2 other Montgomery County Anglers club members. We had a few perch and crappies for our efforts. Was there at 1st light with a couple of other early anglers. We fished tip ups and jigged. Most of our hits and fish came on tu's with shinners on. Some hits on waxers in the shallows. We talked to several other anglers on the lake that were doing very well jigging rigs and wax worm combos. Also with nice weather there was around maybe 50 people out on the ice enjoying the decent weather and almost everyone looked to be getting some bites or fish. We also had a visit from the man in the green suit, nice guy just checking to to make sure anglers had current 2015 licenses. Ice in coves looked good we had 6-8 at most holes we drilled. Center of lake had a good amount of open water still. Nice lake with good amount of fish for those that are willing to put in the time and have the ice fishing "knack".

Good afternoon on the lake. Plenty of smaller fish with a decent amount of keepers mixed in. We had a visit from the man as well and second that he was a very nice guy just enjoying the day and making sure everyone was legit. Seemed like everyone was having a good time.

Made it out around 1230 this afternoon, turned out my son wanted a buddy to tag along so two kids running a muck. Apologies if they were loud. The fishing was game on from when we started till about four. Picked the last few crappies tween 4-5 and called it a day. Ended with a good mix of craps and perch. Some nicer perch. Also had a fish pull a jigging tod down a hole. Dropped a tip up down same hole and got the rod back when I pulled the tu to go home, with the 12 inch perch still on the other end. Luckiest S&@t ever.

I also got checked by the man, nice guy. Had good fishing. Some nicer perch than I have seen for a while. Some bigger crappie too. My fingers are crossed for this lake. Would love to see it return to the days of old.

Rax, probably. Plenty open holes today that are not frozen over from yesterday. May need to break the thin layer of ice to open them but that is a simple enough. Also a sign that is a leftover from yesterday and not someone's fresh cut. Drop, to the bottom, jig from the bottom up to about five feet. Perch on the bottom crappies a little higher. It's tough w/o a fish finder to locate the suspending fish. Just keep changing it up from close to bottom and higher up until you find a bite zone. Good luck!

Panfish, I went out for a noon bite and it was definitely off. Had perch,a few nice ones and small gills. One crappie. Had some marks on the machine that look like a school of crappies about 4 different times and lockjaw. Couldn't get any interest. Tried putting it in thief face, above below and nodda. We took a bunch of fish on Saturday so Sunday was a catch and release day. Lets hope the cold later in the week keeps the ice machine going.

Lots of pressure on MC lately. Not sure it makes a difference or not. But according to the FF there are tons of fish down there. A little warm up this week but it looks like another cold snap will tighten thing back up. I don't expect it to last much longer beyond that. Days are getting noticeably longer and the angle of the sun is getting more direct. I enjoy the ice but im ready to shift into spring mode. I plan to hit MC Monday or Tuesday. Maybe get that elusive musky.

There has been a ton of pressure on MC lately. Specifically carpenters cove. Went over this morning and fished from 10 till about 1:30 and left with a coat of ice on myself and everything I had with me. Carpenters looked like it was carpet bombed with the amount of holes in it so I decided to explore and find some non pressured areas. I found a good looking spot with only 5 holes in the whole area. Caught too many perch to count. 2 of which were really nice fish and only 2 crappies. Most of these fish were all keeper sized too. The bite also never turned off. Steady bite the whole time out. Maybe because it hasn't been pressured at all? Its good get out and explore sometimes

Thanks bill. Tough break on your flasher. Hopefully you get it back pretty quickly. This weekend looks like ice fishing weather. Im hoping mine survived the freezing rain today. I walked away with one of your jigs the other day. Caught a few fish with it today too.

Put in a good 16 hours on the lake over the weekend 2/7/15, 2/8/15. Fished at the convention in carperenters cove on Saturday. Caught a number of perch, only a few over 10", and 8 crappie in the 9-11" range. Did a lot of hole hopping to get the crappie.
Sunday I was back out early in carpenters before the convention started and got 3 crappie and a few perch that I let go. A little after the crowd showed up i decided to punch some new holes in unchartered ice. It payed off after about 6 holes with a number of keeper crappie, perch, gills and of course a lot of smaller perch. Glad I made the move from carpenters.
Bassbum, I'm thinkin you fished the same spot I did, but I could be wrong. Did they look to be 9 inch holes?

Yes they did. Made my 6" holes look tiny. I punched a couple more in the area then broke the thin ice from a couple of what was probably your old holes and found a honey pot of perch beneath. It seems to be a good spot for sure with fish willing to bite. Think ill keep that one close to my chest for a little while. Ill be back out in that area Saturday for sure
