They close the gate every time we have inclement weather, they say it's too costly to plow and salt it and they are lacking the manpower. Few years back when we had a snowy winter, it was closed almost the entire winter, walking from the gate was a chore! I suspect and hope the gate is open now.

Saw you out there cdfish. I was near the mouth of the cove which is called Carpenter's cove I think. I finished with 10 fish (9 perch and 1 crappie) in less than an hour. Nothing bigger than 10 inches. I was out in 35 feet of water. A pink tungsten jig tipped with waxies was killing it. They were inches above the lake bottom. The ice was probably 4 inches deep where I was.

We do close the gate during poor weather we do all we can to make sure it’s open on weekends. It has nothing to do with plowing and salting as we usually plow and salt it even if the road is closed. The issue is every year we get people stuck down there or off the road with 2WD vehicles late at night when we are not out plowing / salting.

Upper parking lot near the swimming pool if it is open. If not park at the lower lot and take the trail to the left of the boat ramp.

that gate should be open more than weekends,,if people get stuck, let them call a tow truck,,we pay taxes for acess to the lake and we pay the people who work there,,,but all we get are excuses,,,yo gotta do better than that pal....and why would you plow and salt a closed road,,,,,really?,,,
