iv been busy fishing mostly down the shore this time of year,,,both off and inshore,,,and its been good so far,,,,been able to put some flounder and tuna in the freezer. i was in the basement checking out the ice gear and it brought back memorys of last years great ice fishing at MC and all the fun i had with iceman and the daily ice fishing gang. don't get me wrong,,im not wishing for cold weather just yet,,,,but when it comes ill be ready,,,i also put the Marcum showdown on charge just to keep the battery in condition. it still came on and seemed to be working fine. so if and when we do get ice,,,hope to see you guys out there.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,by the way,,, the flounder fishing on the inshore reefs in nj is heating up pretty good as is the offshore tuna in the canyons, with chunking being very productive right now.

Nothing wrong with looking ahead to the up coming season. I do it all the time. had the best year ever on the ice. Im not quite ready to let the summer go yet either. I have a trip to Hatteras in 2 weeks and plenty of fall susky trips to go on yet. Crabbing on the bay has bee a bust so far but I have done well on striper, spot, croaker and white perch a few times this summer.
Tight lines brothers

I just got into ice fishing last year and it was a blast! I have a place on the upper bay and the fishing for me has been good until about last weekend but we will see what this weekend brings.. Forget about the crabs .. Ran the traps once and have been checking reports on bluecrab.info no crabs above the Chester. I'm hoping for ice like last year without the snow! Went seabass fishing outa ocmd got tons of shorts with a few keepers.. So all in all I'm ready for the fall striper run..to lead into tog gushing and then some good ice....tight lines

Hey panfishin, long time no see! Last year was a blast, lotta good times out there & the fishing was awesome. Not to rush things but with the below average temperatures this Summer, if this trend continues we should have another long cold winter & plenty of ice. Right now my focus is on the upcoming deer season, shooting the bow, checking trail cameras & setting tree stands. Going after Walleye next week up in NY.

I don't mean to melt everyone's ice but as a West Chester native for almost 20 years, I recall about a 50/50 chance for safe ice on the bigger impoundments. Maybe my memory is failing me... That being said, I had a great year on the hardwater later year, so here's to fingers crossed!

Jigger.. My boat is docked at crystal beach .. On the Eastern shore right across from turkey point.. I have an 18ft side console c hawk with a 90 honda.. Ran it to the bay bridge 2 weeks ago got a bunch of blues ans cow nose rays.. Dropped the traps in the sassafras this past weekend but didn't even get my bait chewed.. Buddy got 4 fat crab in the Bo during the week so I figured maybe there would be something around...Chester reports are starting yo look real good in the lower part of the river in the real shallow water.
Farmers almanac is saying another bad winter. So hopefully I love using all the new ice fishing gear I baught last year!

Totally unrelated to ice fishing, anyone have a spot or room this old timer can Bow hunt locally besides a St. park, I would like to get some time in before NY season opens in Oct. I would even be open to a trade hunt, I own 300 acres in NY and have some dandy bucks on film. This would make for good stories to talk about while sitting out on the ice this Winter.

might be able to help you out ,,have to see how things go over on the property this year,,,cant make any promisis yet.ill call ya. went to the hills on the weekend and a buddy and i fished the pine creek near Blackwell fri and sat about 3 till dusk both days,,,6 trout,4 chain pickerel,,several small mouth,a few rock bass and some very large fall fish,,,some were close to 20in and were tackle testers. chilly at night,,leaves getting ready to change,,,but still mostly green up there.,,,i know trout lose there pec fins in the fish runs,,,,,do they grow back?,,,,,all the trout we caught had full fins all around and were the average size of state stocked fish,,,5 rainbow and 1 brown,,,just seemed strange to see them with pec fins.
