so I'm getting a new gun for Christmas and I'm not sure what i want yet. I'm getting the gun so as i don't have to take my expensive browning out into the rain and snow, so i kinda want a foul weather gun. I'm thinking a ruger 77 sporter that has the gray laminate stock and the stainless barrel in .280 not sure yet though. anybody have any experience with this gun. I'm open for suggestions for gun and caliber, only thing is i don't want a black stock i just don't like the look or feel of them thanks.

there's a few companies with 100 yard, 1 inch guarentees. Tikka t3, Weatherby vanguard 2, Thompson venture. All affordable good guns. The trigger on the tikka is outstanding. I would also look at savage and howa. Ruger makes a nice rifle but you me we know how they will shoot. They will shoot good but might need some work. Remington has had a lot of quality control issues the past decade and it might shoot good. Cz is supposed to make a nice rifle but I've had 2 and had a lot of problems. Also their customer service was the worst I've ever dealt with.

I have an all weather M77 MKII in 7mm rem mag. It shoots 1.5" groups at 200yds, sub 1" at 100 yds. They are well made rifles, much better made then the over Rated remington 700. Some have triggers that are heavy weighted, but there not that hard to correct. Best part is that they are "made in the USA", unlike many in their price range. Not to mention the claw extractor, way better then the push feed on everything else in their class. Another benefit is the integrated scope rings. They're rock solid and repeatable for removal and rings come with the rifle. Like I said the only weak point is the lawsuit pull weight trigger, but the newer Hawkeye's are suppose to have solved that. I have bolts in Winchester, Remington, Browning, and Weatherby. My "go to"gun is the Ruger topped with a 4-16x50 Vortex Viper HS. Basically point and shoot out to 250yds.
