Does anyone know if there are manmade sunken structures put in Marsh creek for Fish cover. I saw a picutre on the Marsh Creek Bass club website that looked like a bunch of the were built and sitting on thebank. If they are in the water does anyone know where they are located. or even have the GPS coordinates. Thanks

Ryan, Yes there are tons of man mad structure sunken in MC. They are over the place from what i have seen. I don't have any GPS coordinates but would love them ;D. You might be able to bribe a MCBC into getting a few..lol Sorry i don't have more info but if you have a boat and fish finder just search around you will see them, they are pretty easy to see on the fish finder.

I've seen many in shallow water along the shoreline to the right of the Dam. Also If you come out from the Eagle ramp and head to the left shoreline there are many along that shoreline. All the way to the point.I'd say most that you can see are in maybe 6 feet of water if that deep. I have seen some in deeper water when the water is clear. They are hard to pick up on the sonar since they are not very high and the amount of weeds that are around them. Seems that most just keep a hole in the weeds. Which i would think over time will get covered in weeds.

Hawgcatcher, The ones your are talking about are spawing structures for spawing. There are also fish structures but they are mostly deeper and from what i have seen on my sonar and what i have been told by MCBC guys is that they stand 6ft tall or so. The spawing structure that i believe you are talking about are mostly in 4-8ft range and almost look like park tables and benches.

Yes i know exactly what your talking about. I have also seen the other type they look like a bunch of 2x2 nailed together stacked on top of each other. I've seen them down in 12' to 20' feet of water. I think what happens some times they fall over and are laying on their side.

At one time (and maybe still) there was a map available from the park office at Marsh Creek that showed most of the structures (porcupine cribs) , "catfish spawning devices" and trees felled in the lake by MCBC. I have one of these maps and it's probably 10 years old, so it would not show any recent structures sunk, like the large rock pile sunk near the boat rental last year. I was also told at the time that this map did not show all the cribs sunk, as some locations were to be known only to MCBC members. If any one is interested in a copy of the map stop in our store and I will make a copy for you.

These structures are called (Porcupine Cribs) and are weighted down by cinder block in most cases, they are fish habitats. As part of the "Adopt A Lake" program Brandywine Bassmasters have built and installed 80 in Struble Lake over a 4 year period. The fish commission reinverses the club for wood expenditures and the cinder blocks used in our construction were donated. Adopting clubs gather to build these and the fish commission uses a special rigged boat to put them in the water. I understand MCBC has also done this. MCBC should be commended for the work they have done to make Marsh Creek one of the top Pa. fishery's. Just thought you would like to know.
