Hello, I am new to the sport of bass fishing and I have been having a lot of luck with a plastic worm on a TX rig. I have tried top water buzz baits, prop baits and poppers but i have only had two bites on them. Any advice of when and where to start fishing top water. I have tried early morning and early evening but not much luck. Is it due to the time of year? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Try black poopers just before dark. Twitch them along the shoreline or near weeds. Scum frogs work nicely in the thick mats.

I've had some luck with poppers or buzzbaits right after dark. Dark colors work best. Try around timber or the outside weed edges. 50-75 yards on either side of the Lyndell side ramp usually works to pick up a couple of small LM's. All this is assuming that you are fishing from a boat.

I don't fish top waters much and when I do it's usually a buzz bait, but I was just wondering if anybody has tried the Zoom Horny Toad, it's supposed to be a good bait.

Try black scum frogs in the shallow coves. I get alot of buckets to the left of the dam.

Yup, I've had success with the Horny Toads as a top water. Just throw them out, reel them back. There is a problem with them in that they don't want to stay all the way up on the hook for long so make sure you have some super glue or a toothpick available. Also, use stout equipment. They're big lures. You're not going to catch small fish on them. I've also had luck with them fishing them with a steady retrieve just below the surface. The strikes are awesome.
