As I was driving by the lake over the bridge on Little Connestoga, I noticed a lone ice fisherman in the middle of the lake. Dont know if he was catching anything, but I bet his butt cheeks were clenched pretty tight while he was sitting out there. Dont know if I would trust the ice just yet.

I watched him for about 1/2 hour as well. Didn't see him catch anything and he was moving from hole to hole. I walked down to to the ice and it was only about 2". Not enough for me yet.

There were a bunch of guys out off of chalfront rd, looking down from the bridge. Ice looked awefully white though all of a sudden.
Havent talked to anyone catching anything at marsh yet!

Main part of the lake really opened up in that wind.

What general area of the lake your you fishing? I drove around about a week ago and the main lake was still open. There were some guys out up towards the upper bridge but the ice still didn't look too safe. Maybe all the subfreezing night time temps have improved things. How thick was the ice?

I'm guessing the fingers are all safe. It was at least 6" where I was. I would be careful about venturing on to the main lake although I wouldnt be surprised if it was safe. Be extra creful with the snow cover hiding changes in ice. Follow the rule of thumb. No less than 4" of clear hard ice.

Fished the lake today off of Chalfant Rd. Gate is closed so there is not much room for parking. Was there at 10 AM and fished for close to 7 hours. Nothing but small stuff. About 20 small gills and one perch. Going to try again tomorrow. Anyone fishing the Eastern coves (in front and behind the day use area) doing any better?

I was there Friday am and had the same luck. Heard there was a guy there Wednesday and caught over 20 keeper perch.

Fished MC monday. Many medium gills. 1 monster crappie. 1 big large mouth and lost 2 muskies at the hole. They are there if you are willing to put in the time.

I forgot about the muskies. A lot of people catching them? I'm definitely not set up for that.

Takem, not that I have seen. I have at least 1 encounter every time I go. Fishing for them is kind of like deer hunting, you gotta wait.
