My brother in law and I went to his buddies guide service in Centreville MD. it was called shoreman outfitters. The owner spencer keating went to high school with my borther in law. We each got two canadas and I think we ended up with 13 Mallards. Mostly Drakes. We also shot a Hybrid mallard drake. Spencer thinks it is a mallard wigeon hybrid. He is getting mounted. I learned a lot. it was a great experience. The Hybrid

Ii am not 100 percent on the difference between the two. i am not that dog savey. I still need to get a hunting dog. Is casting where the handler makes hand or sound commands for the dog to find the downed bird? If so they were not doing much of that. The dogs were just watching where the birds fell and rolling out after them.

yeah, casting is stopping the dog on the whistle and giving him a hand signal. Its for when the dog doesn't see the bird go down. Its cool to watch the dogs work.

Yeah I love watching the dogs work. It is awesome to see their determination and drive. I need to get one of my own.

let me know if you do get a dog. I've been training one this past year. Always nice to have second person to train with.

Will do. I hope to get one sometime soon. I will just need to convince my fiance that a third dog is a good idea. I wish I could train the two I have now but one is about the size of a goose and the other one can't swim.

hate to be the bearer of bad news there Vanmc but im not so sure thats a hybrid. Im no professional but it looks like a mallard in eclipse plummage, i know it seems a little late in the year for that but it may have been a late brood and is just getting it mating feathers now. Only reason i say that is because from what i can tell of the picture it has all the same characteristics of a mallard, yellow beek, wing patches, black back, and no sign of hybridization and you see how the feathers up towards the head on its back look similar to a hen mallards, thats the big giveaway to me, but like i said i could be wrong, i would have someone who really knows birds look at it before you mount it though. The are alot of good bird guys on the DuckHuntersRefuge forum that will give a definite answer.

We did well on the geese this Saturday. We were hunting a pit blind down in chestertown. Another guided hunt but with a different guy. We got 10 Canadas between 5 of us. My friend shot this fatty of a goose. I learned a whole bunch of stuff on these last two hunts.
