Fished the res. today from 7:00am to 3:30pm. Looking for crappies again... not a one. Fished hard for bass also. Hundreds of casts. Managed 2 small ones on green senko's. Threw jigs and spinner baits too... no luck. Also caught 2 large cats on soft baits. There are tons of small bluegills close to the banks. I could see the little guys pick up my baits.
The water level was down about 5 feet. The lake was loaded with big carp. They were everywhere. Talked to a few other guys that also struck out with the crappies. They mentioned that the carp may be eating the crappie eggs... putting a hurting on them. I don't know but there are sure a lot of carp there and I can't find the crappies. The storm front that rolled though the other night didn't help any either. On a plus note the weather was great... light breeze and the sun didn't come out until I was packing up.

they will clean out fish nests. Where did you see most of the carp? They were the heaviest in the bay to the right of the dam finger. All the way around to the pipe/creek. They were big too... some were at least 20lbs. I did see hundreds of them all over though. Out in the middle of the main lake and along most of the shore lines. Like I said I don't know a whole lot about carp but it makes sense to me that they could be a big problem at this lake.
