Pa Fish And Boat Commission has announced that Gov. Ed Rendell has signed a bill that allows the Fish Commision to charge a additional $.70 cent fee for issuing of each Pa Fishing license and permit. The reason for this fee, is the new addition of the P.A.L.S. electronic licensing system. The fish commission is charged this $.70 cent fee by the processor of the new licences. Apparently the collection of information is out sourced to an independent company that supplies the terminals. This bill allows the fish commision to pass this increased cost to the consumer (you). It will also apply to the purchase of a trout stamp. This will increase the cost of the license, with trout stamp to $1.40. This bill also addresses the issue of lost replacement license. The fee now for a replacement fishing licence with trout stamp is now $14.25. This will DECREASE to $6.70. I believe this due to the fact there is no actual trout stamp anymore. These prices will go into effect immediately. Also note that the Pa Game Commission is also going to use the same system to issue hunting licences for the upcoming year. I assume we can expect the game commission to follow the same fee increase.

Seems like things are getting tighter and tighter. It costs a lot more to catch less trout. Remember when you could catch 8 and we didnt have to worry about them being polluted with PCB's, well if they were polluted we didnt know it. Maybe Im just complaining too much, if some one could justify the Pa Fish and Boat price increases I would appreciate it.

Didn't they increase them last year with the "promise" of bigger and better trout - no trout that were under 12 inches? LOL!? (With less stocked) It seems like they increased the price for a lisence, and just put less trout in. With more and more fisherman and less fish trout season sucked. I caught trout that weren't even close to the legal size to keep them. Each year it gets worse and worse and it's getting to the point where it isn't worth it.
I know this had almost nothing to do with the new P.A.L.S system but the lisence increase just triggered my comment.
