I'm a little surprised to see Marlin doing so well (although I like their guns and own a few). I thought levers were supposed to be fading out of existence. Savage also surprises me. They make very accurate guns at a reasonable price.

Marlin has done very well with the coyboy action shooters with there lever guns. Also, levers are still very popular sellers with hunters. A bit of nostalgia plays a big part with a lot of hunters. Many started with a lever gun when they started hunting, and want to own one today. Also Marlin has a great line of rimfire guns, that are reasonably priced. The 17 HMR also selling very well for them. Savage has come a long way the last several years after they were bought out, because of financial problems. The company went back to its roots, consentrating on its very well designed bolt action rifle and dropped a lot of its unprofitable models. Many new models and inovations on their rifles have kept them solvent, in the last several years.
