Are you sure it was a hen and not a buzzard? Stranger things have happened but there is very little in the way of woods big enough around there to hold turkeys.

Its pretty hard to confuse the two up close. Everyone I know has seen a few over the years. I saw one across the street from there a few years back. I have also seen them in west chester, malvern a couple times and at marsh creek. Saw a whole flock along 401 last year at this time.

I don't know, they don't call them turkey vultures for nothing! Not too familiar with that area though. I remember seeing a tom in Valley Forge park a couple of years ago, so they could be anywhere.

theres no question as to whether or not it was a turkey. I am a turkey hunter. I can't say where but my friend Jon hunted turkeys locally last year and the guy that told him they were there shot a jake last spring. Right here in chester county. I just thought it was a cool observation because I don't see them that often but I thought it was common knowledge that we have the occasional turkey.

Chester county is loaded with turkey. I work with a lady that had so many around her place that somebody not sure if it was the game commission came and trapped them and moved them. I had 5 in a field about half mile from my house couple days ago. And have had them in my yard. I was under the impression that they were stocked from what I've heard.

Yea agreed on chester co turkeys. Over the winter at my gun club we were shooting some clays (this is honey brook BTW) and a turkey came strolling out of the woods, we kept shooting, he just fooled around out in the field for maybe 10-15 mins, then wandered into some pine trees and out of sight. They might be here in chester county, but no one ever said they were the sharpest tools in the shed!!

I saw one fly across route 1 just before the West Grove exit. That's the first I've seen in the area in years. Hopefully the population will continue to expand.

I hunted a few times around here, it seems like some of those turkeys might be transplants and some might be pen raised and released, there was a turkey 5-6 years ago that regularly came into the yard and ate stale bread we threw out, even stuck around when the dog was out. There are actually quite a few birds in French Creek state park, or where 2 years ago, good luck to everyone goin out, dont forget to check for bands.
