Anybody do any duck hunting saturday, I hit the Schuylkill in the AM and a hot spot of mine in the PM, Got 2 Drake mallards, 2 woodies, and a hooded merganser of all things, could have shot 15 woodies, they were piling in at dark but i had my limit. it was a good day though, little to much sunshine. Went monday too got 2 more drake woodies. one is in prime colors im taking him to get mounted. Seems like there are alot of ducks around but we will have to wait til the late season, last year it was good early and then just plain sucked late bc it was too damn warm nothin came down from up north til after the season. Heading to jersey this weekend for there opener, hopefully get some teal, black ducks, maybe somethin crazy, you never know down there. Just wondering how anybody else did.

I hear ya. I saw some ridiculous shots. I saw one guy shoot at a duck that was no less than a 100 yards. Crazy. Your right about last season that weather ruined everything.

yeah some people have no clue whats goin on, it makes it not even worth it, when i started hunting which was only 10 years ago nobody waterfowl hunted around here and thats what i started hunting first, then as the deer population dwindled people started doin it more and more and now you gotta show up at a spot at 3 in the morning to make sure you got somewhereto hunt, and people dont really know what they are doing so they just end up ruining it for others

Last year fishing the river (I told you about the spot brad) I saw a LOT of ducks and geese both. All would have been in good hunting places, and pretty easy access. I'm guessing the river is down pretty low about now, would make for good shore blind hunting.

yeah you cant get a boat down river from the ramp on the canal, the river is really low. Shore blinds are were its at for hunting the river though. I think because the river is relatively small people using boat blind tend to scare the ducks, im not really sure why though but that has been my experience. plus if you are running a dog theres no need for a boat you can walk just about anywhere you want on there anyway

They sent me like 4 packs of envelopes, you cut a wing off of a duck, and then off a goose you cut the first three primary feathers and pull out all the rump feather. Then you fill out where you shot it and when and what time, then put them in an envelope and send them to the USFWS and they send you a report next year of the age, sex, and for the geese they can tell where they are from. I just got it this year for the first time, i never heard of it before though so i was wondering how common it is
