Brandywine bassmasters is checking into building a boat ramp at Chambers as we have done at Struble Lake as part of the adopt a lake program. As of this time I have no further info as the club is still making contacts with the powers to be. A ramp is really needed here for launching. I will update this message when more information becomes available.

That lake is too small to handle the pressure it gets now. Do we really need more boat traffic?

Good point, that poor little lake really has been getting pounded the past couple of years. The first two years were the best, but it has declined since then. I have seen a lot of nice fish kept out of that lake, which doesn't help.

They should make that a CPR only lake for a few years. I caught a few nice fish out of there last year but it really looks like it could be much better if it was managed a little better.
If I was going to spend money to upgrade the ramp there, I would just put in a floating dock so we don't have to beat up the bottom of our boats trying to beach it.

Sorry I made a mistake, we installed a floating dock at Struble and are looking to do the same at Chambers. I did not mean to scare everyone. At 66 years old chalk it up to a senior moment. I hope the majority of people fishing this lake practice catch and release. I have caught quite a few nice bass there this summer and all were released alive.

That would be fantistic. I like fishing that lake but hate killing my keel on the gravel and rocks.
I'm a strict CPR fisherman, especially for bass. I don't mind if people keep one here or there, but I've seen people walk away with a whole stinger full of fish and it's pretty sad.

Correct me if I'm wrong, isn't this lake part of the Big Bass program? That means no bass under 15 inches can be kept. I hope you are not seeing people taking small fish out of there!!!

I was speaking in general terms, not just about Chambers. I have seen some guys take some nice fish out of chambers, but not a ton. There are some real good fish in that lake and we need to keep it that way.
I'm all for stricter size and kreel limits on some of the better fisheries. If you look at the management of a lake like Briery Creek in VA, it's proof of what strict management can do. I know there's a difference in the year round water temps and general lake topography that also have a major effect on the size and numbers of fish, but still. When you hear guys complaining about having a bad day because they only caught 25 fish between 2-5 lbs and didn't get any "big one's", you know they're doing something right at that place.

Look for good things to happen at Chambers, such as a paved parking lot and ramp, decent restrooms , wheel chair access and yes a floating dock. I can not go into all the details as negotiations are still going on and things look very promising. I will update as things progress.
