First thing you do is take your G.Loomis 8ft muskie rod thats paired up with that new Tranx reel that you just bought and spooled it up with 65 lbs braid with a 80 lbs florocarbon leader. Tie on the most obnoxious colored muskie lure and make sure all knots are secure. Then this is the most important step that most people dont do and i see this mistake all the time. You lay it down next to you and dont touch it. Just whisper very quietly, "Muskie, come to me". Wait a few seconds till a muskie shows itself and just hold out your net and say to her, " come babe, you know you want me as much as i want you." then scoop her up gently and voilĂ ! youtu.be/PPBGRtMDu-8

Nice! I've seen them swimming around like that before in a few different lakes. Not sure what they are trying to do but they want nothing to do with anything when they're in that state.

yeah sorry for being corny in that post but it was the most ridiculous catch of my life. if i didnt record it i dont think many people would believe me. at first i thought it was a beaver but once i realized what it was i started recording. I was pedaling towards her because i thought something was wrong, like she was injured with a lure stuck in her mouth so i thought maybe i could maybe help. next thing i know she sees me and starts going towards me like a puppy.
i still have no clue what the heck that fish was thinking when she just swam into my net.

I thought about taking her out of the water to take some pics once i realized she was not injured or stressed but i figured it would be disrespectful to do that to her hahah. can you imagine how embarrassing it would be for that beast of a fish if i took her out of the water and took pics of her acting like i caught her normally? It would be like going into a boxing ring with mike tyson then all of sudden he trips, knocks himself out then i start posing with my hands up in the air like i just uppercutted him like a badass, hahaha. but no i didnt take her out the water. i just took some quick pics and video recorded the release. youtu.be/2IKFR-FyVVk

In the state of PA it is unlawful to net fish not caught with hook and line. Found that out netting sunfish when I was 9. Got a nice talking to from the fish warden. At that time I believe the fine was $100 per fish. And that was a long, long time ago. Muskies that are swimming head out like that are digesting prey that they have just eaten. They will not chase a lure and if you are catching them you are either snagging them or like in your case just plain netting them. Either way, big fines coming your way.

i had no idea that was the law. i only went closer to see if she had a lure stuck in her mouth to see if i could help. me netting her was out of reaction and with out thought. if it happens i wont be doing it again but thanks for the threat, i mean tip.
